Administered by European Union
About this grant
Call for proposals to establish a coordinated network of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs). With a total budget of €3.9M, this call seeks to consolidate Europe's scattered innovation hubs into a world-class ecosystem capable of competing globally in the development of gene therapies, cell therapies, and tissue-engineered products. The initiative aims to bridge the gap from laboratory discovery to patient delivery by supporting existing centres embedded within vibrant bioclusters. Selected CoEs must already possess critical infrastructure, including state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facilities and clinical trial capabilities. The network is intended to be limited to a maximum of 10 centres across the EU, each offering complementary expertise to ensure comprehensive coverage of various ATMP technologies. Proposed projects, spanning the period of 2027–2030, must address the following mandates: Policy and Harmonization: Develop recommendations for clinical trials, logistics, and the harmonization of market access and reimbursement procedures; Long-term Vision: Create a roadmap with clear milestones to position Europe as a global leader in ATMP research and innovation by 2035; Stakeholder Engagement: Establish a diverse advisory board and foster a multi-sectoral consortium including regulators, industry actors, and patient organizations; and Education: Design training programs for the next generation of scientists and conduct outreach to improve public understanding of advanced therapies.
