About this grant

Call for proposals to strengthen health systems and digital capacity within sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative focuses on the development and integration of electronic health records and tools that leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence to better prevent, detect, and treat infectious diseases. By fostering partnerships between national governments, researchers, and the private sector, the program aims to move beyond fragmented systems toward scalable, inclusive digital health infrastructures. Projects are expected to deliver high-impact results, such as scaling up validated digital innovations at a regional level or improving data interoperability between existing health systems. Furthermore, proposals must prioritize ethical standards, data privacy, and the audit of AI biases to ensure that new technologies are sustainable and culturally acceptable. Ultimately, the goal of this Coordination and Support Action is to build local human capital and ensure that digital transformation leads to evidence-based policy making and improved healthcare delivery for underserved communities. The program has a total budget of €18M, with individual awards expected to be around €2.3M each.
