How to apply

1. 1Confirm eligibility by holding a PhD in anthropology or a related field, having institutional affiliation and support, no other application under review, and completion of any previous grant obligations.
2. 2Select a strong public anthropology problem that addresses priority goals, demonstrates anthropology’s unique contribution, targets audiences beyond academia, and fills a gap in public understanding, policy, education, or communication.
3. 3Align the proposal with one or more 2026–2030 priorities such as public engagement, countering misinformation, addressing inequities, water insecurity, education partnerships, media skills, or applied anthropology for policy.
4. 4Build a strong project design defining the problem statement, public relevance, target audience, engagement method, planned activities, outputs, outcomes, and sustainability.
5. 5Prepare a realistic direct-cost budget covering eligible expenses like staffing, content production, workshops, travel, outreach, and evaluation while excluding overhead or indirect costs.
6. 6Explain clearly how the project expands anthropology’s reach through broader audiences, public communication tools, infrastructure, and increased disciplinary visibility.
7. 7Demonstrate sustainability and legacy through long-term partnerships, reusable outputs, institutional adoption, and lasting public-facing impact.
8. 8Submit one well-developed, high-impact application, ensuring only one proposal is under consideration at a time.
