Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

  • Relief will be issued as 25% of total eligible annual fees, representing the affected quarter (April to June 2025).
  • Overview
  • Fee relief is available for commercial fishers, aquaculture and charter boat operators impacted by the algal bloom affecting South Australia’s coastline.
  • Eligible fees for relief consideration include:
  • PIRSA Fisheries and Aquaculture annual licence fees
  • Biosecurity SA Food Safety Scheme and audit fees
  • Aquaculture lease and licence fees.
  • Check if you can apply
  • To be eligible for fee relief, applicants must:
  • hold a current commercial fishery licence, aquaculture lease/licence, or charter boat fishery licence issued by PIRSA
  • have experienced operational impacts during the April to June 2025 period due to the harmful algal bloom event
  • submit an application via an industry association (e.g., MFA, SAPFA, SAOGA), or directly to PIRSA
  • not have already received relief for the same fees via other government schemes.
