Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

  • SA commercial fisheries and aquaculture licence holders impacted by the algal bloom.
  • Overview
  • Up to $350,000 in grant payments are available through the Algal Bloom Fisheries and Aquaculture Assistance Grant to support licence holders significantly impacted by the algal bloom.
  • 2 payments of up to $100,000 each (amounts tiered based on previous turnover) may be available to eligible businesses to meet fixed costs and overheads - including utilities, rent, finance and interest payments.
  • A further third payment of up to $100,000 is also available if you have already received funding through this program and can demonstrate continued impact as per the updated guidelines and meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Eligible businesses can also now receive up to $50,000 in additional funding to support employee wages, meaning the hardest hit businesses may now be entitled to up to $350,000 in total grants.

  • To be eligible, businesses must:
  • be a legal entity established in Australia
  • be a SA commercial fisheries or aquaculture licence holder
  • have an active Australian business number (ABN) as at a 1 January 2025
  • be registered for goods and services tax (GST) as of 29 July 2025
  • demonstrate minimum business turnover of $75,000 in financial year 2023-24 or 2024-25
  • have an Australia-wide grouped payroll not greater than $10 million in 2024-25
  • derive at least 75% of business turnover directly from commercial activities under the commercial fisheries or aquaculture licence(s).
