This program provides TAS sheep and goat farmers with rebates to help them purchase eligible eID device tags.
Key facts
Eligibility requirements
All of the following criteria must be met:
- The support scheme will assist owners of sheep and goats to transition from the current visual device and mob-based approach to individual electronic tagging of sheep and goats, by providing a rebate on purchased tags.
- A $1 rebate per tag on retail price (gst exclusive) of eligible eid device ear tags
- A $4 rebate per tag on retail price (gst exclusive) of eligible eid device goat leg bands, where ear tags are not suitable for particular goat breeds.
- To be eligible for a rebate, you must:
- Have an active property identification code (pic)
- Be authorised by the department to order and use national livestock identification system (nlis) sheep and goat permanent identifier devices on a pic
- Agree to only purchase eligible devices that are reasonably required to tag your stock in accordance with the year of birth colour scheme or to manage post breeder or yellow colour breeder management requirements in the current year (no stockpiling of tags is to occur)
- Agree to comply with your legislative obligations to make record movements to the (nlis).

- 4Prepare and write application: Address all selection criteria clearly (project details, government alignment, costs, outcomes, benefits); keep concise, factual, and compelling; validate for completeness.
- 5Review, approve, and submit: Proofread, get stakeholder sign-off, submit online via the portal before deadline (no late entries); expect eligibility check, merit assessment, and outcome notification.
