Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

  • Queensland small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profits affected by western queensland surface trough and associated rainfall and flooding, commencing 21 march 2025.
  • Eligible clean-up, reinstatement activities and emergency measures include:
  • Equipment and materials to undertake clean-up
  • Additional labour costs (above and beyond normal wage expenditure, i.e. day-to-day staffing)
  • Disposing of damaged goods and stock, including associated costs
  • Repairs to buildings (other than housing)
  • Reconditioning/repairing essential plant and equipment
  • Purchase or hire/lease costs for equipment essential to the immediate resumption of the business
  • Payment for tradespeople to conduct safety inspections
  • Essential repairs to premises and internal fittings that is not covered by insurance.
  • Hold an australian business number (abn) and have held that abn at the time of the disaster
  • Be located in the defined disaster area for the eligible disaster that has suffered direct damage as a result of the eligible disaster
  • Be primarily responsible for meeting the costs claimed in the application
  • Intend to re-establish the undertaking in the same area.

What the funding covers

  • Funding of up to $75K for primary producers and up to $50K for small businesses and not-for-profits.

  3. 3Register/log in: Obtain an Australian Business Number (ABN) if needed, sign into the relevant portal (e.g., Business Grants Hub portal), and note any prerequisites like advisory service reports.
  4. 4Prepare and write application: Address all selection criteria clearly (project details, government alignment, costs, outcomes, benefits); keep concise, factual, and compelling; validate for completeness.
  5. 5Review, approve, and submit: Proofread, get stakeholder sign-off, submit online via the portal before deadline (no late entries); expect eligibility check, merit assessment, and outcome notification.
