About this grant

The program provides an Advisory Service for startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) undertaking innovative commercialisation and/or growth projects that are within the priority areas of the Australian Government’s National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) and help build Australia’s manufacturing capability for the future.

Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

  • Smes who have an innovative commercialisation and/or growth project that will help build manufacturing capability in one or more of the
  • Government's priority areas for the nrf
  • Value-add in agriculture, forestry and fisheries
  • Renewables and low emissions technologies
  • Minor changes or improvements to existing products or services are not considered innovative. these are generally considered business as usual growth and not eligible under the program.

What the funding covers

  • Eligible businesses will be connected with an Industry Growth Program Adviser. The Adviser will provide specialised advice to support your commercialisation and growth opportunities and priorities.
  • Once you have received this advice, you may choose to apply for:
  • grants of $50K to $250K to support early-stage commercialisation projects
  • grants of $100K to $5 million for commercialisation and growth projects.

How to apply

  1. 1Confirm readiness: Ensure you meet criteria (e.g., ABN, turnover limits, GST registration), align project objectives with grant goals, and estimate time for evidence gathering and writing.
  2. 2Gather evidence: Collect documents like financials, business plans, market research, project budgets, resumes, risk analysis, and support letters to prove capability and impact.
  3. 3Register/log in: Obtain an Australian Business Number (ABN) if needed, sign into the relevant portal (e.g., Business Grants Hub portal), and note any prerequisites like advisory service reports.
  4. 4Prepare and write application: Address all selection criteria clearly (project details, government alignment, costs, outcomes, benefits); keep concise, factual, and compelling; validate for completeness.
  5. 5Review, approve, and submit: Proofread, get stakeholder sign-off, submit online via the portal before deadline (no late entries); expect eligibility check, merit assessment, and outcome notification.
