Space Concession helps companies wanting to develop high technology for the space sector. It encourages the transfer of technology and expertise by providing duty-free tariff on eligible imported goods.

Eligibility requirements
All of the following criteria must be met:
- Before you import any goods for the project, we must authorise your space project. we also have to determine if the goods to be imported are eligible.
- An authorised space project must involve activities between parties from australia and other countries that include:
- The supply of equipment or technologies
- Your project must be in one of the following fields:
- Space communications and information technologies
- Satellite navigation systems and technologies
- Automated and manned space apparatus and systems and corresponding ground equipment
- Protection of the outer space environment
- Your project must also be accompanied by an australian industry participation (aip) plan.
- Your eligible goods cover a broad range of items. it is best to contact us directly to discuss the goods you wish to import.
- Your goods must be necessary or integral to develop or operate your space project. you can only use the goods for that project.
What the funding covers
- Duty-free tariffs on eligible imported goods for use in a space project.
How to apply
- 1Confirm readiness: Ensure you meet criteria (e.g., ABN, turnover limits, GST registration), align project objectives with grant goals, and estimate time for evidence gathering and writing.
- 2Gather evidence: Collect documents like financials, business plans, market research, project budgets, resumes, risk analysis, and support letters to prove capability and impact.
- 3Register/log in: Obtain an Australian Business Number (ABN) if needed, sign into the relevant portal (e.g., Business Grants Hub portal), and note any prerequisites like advisory service reports.
- 4Prepare and write application: Address all selection criteria clearly (project details, government alignment, costs, outcomes, benefits); keep concise, factual, and compelling; validate for completeness.
- 5Review, approve, and submit: Proofread, get stakeholder sign-off, submit online via the portal before deadline (no late entries); expect eligibility check, merit assessment, and outcome notification.
