Eligibility requirements
All of the following criteria must be met:
- Landowners, land managers and public bodies (other than Forestry England) can apply
- Must plan to create woodland that is located in England
- Minimum of 5 hectares or more in total size
What the funding covers
- £1.5K for Stage 1 desk-based exercise
- £150 per hectare for Stage 2 (minus the £1.5K from Stage 1)
- Supplementary payments for specialist survey work if needed
- Total funding capped at £30.5K per project
How to apply
- 1You can apply year-round, but ensure you allow time for assessment as responses are typically provided within 15 working days, or longer if the application involves untrialled tree species or sensitive locations.
- 2Ensure you have a signed agreement in place before starting any work, in line with the WCPG terms and conditions.
- 3Obtain landowner consent and signature if you do not own the land, and be prepared to provide a tenancy agreement if requested by the Forestry Commission.
- 4Complete Part 2 of the application form by outlining your planting proposals, and be prepared to clarify or finalise details if contacted by the Forestry Commission.
- 5Submit the completed application form by email to WCPG@forestrycommission.gov.uk.
