Awards to support researchers without prior experience of leading significant research project to accelerate trajectory as independent researchers.

Eligibility requirements
All of the following criteria must be met:
- Based at UK research organisation eligible for AHRC funding
- Cannot be current/former project lead on AHRC or UKRI research grants (with specific exceptions listed)
- Cannot be current/former project lead on research grants from other funders (with exceptions)
- Must have appropriate skills to lead project
- Applications welcomed from archivists, curators, librarians, technicians, practitioners
What the funding covers
- FEC up to £300K AHRC funds 80%
- Duration up to 5 years
- Development of researchers and research ideas
- Support for teams, networks and solo researchers
- Mentoring costs can be claimed
How to apply
- 1Confirm eligibility based on age, academic status, and student or professional category.
- 2Prepare a three-minute pitch clearly demonstrating which wall your research or idea aims to break.
- 3Submit the application individually in English through the official Lab portal.
- 4Await confirmation and prepare for participation according to the Lab schedule.
