Eligibility requirements
All of the following criteria must be met:
- Residential or commercial landlords
- Registered at Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC
- Property in UK (not Channel Islands or Isle of Man)
- Cannot be mandatory requirement
- Parking spaces must be off-street, private and clearly defined
What the funding covers
- EV Chargepoint grant: 75% off cost, up to £350 per socket (200 grants/year residential, 100/year commercial)
- EV Infrastructure grant: 75% off cost, up to £30K (£350 per socket, £500 per parking space)
- Residential landlord chargepoint grant increasing to £500 from 1 April 2026
How to apply
- 1By applying for this grant, you confirm that you have reviewed and will comply with eligibility criteria and OZEV home and workplace grant terms and conditions.
- 2Before applying, complete any necessary upgrades to the building’s electrical supply.
- 3Arrange regular maintenance checks for the chargepoints.
- 4Decide how electricity and running costs will be paid.
- 5Ensure the chargepoints are accessible.
- 6Update the property’s risk assessment to include chargepoints.
- 7Contact an OZEV-authorised installer to obtain a quote for installation.
- 8Start a new application by creating an account and submitting required details to OZEV.
- 9Provide a quote for installation from an OZEV-authorised installer.
- 10All documents must be in the name of the applying organisation or business and registered with Companies House or VAT registered.
- 11If a freeholder of a multi-unit property, provide the land registry title showing ownership.
- 12If a private landlord or charity, provide a current insurance policy showing property address and rental status.
- 13If an RMC or RTM company, the applicant must be listed on Companies House.
- 14RMC or RTM applicants must provide proof of position such as meeting minutes confirming appointment.
- 15If a property management company, provide a letter of appointment or agreement with the landlord.
- 16Property management companies must also provide relevant landlord evidence based on category.
- 17Public sector landlords and registered social housing providers only need to provide an installer quote.
- 18OZEV may audit applications and request additional information during the process.
- 19If eligible, OZEV will notify both applicant and installer via email with terms, conditions, and next steps.
- 20The installer will receive instructions and a link to claim the grant after installation.
- 21After installation, the installer will submit the grant claim on behalf of the applicant.
- 22The installer must provide chargepoint details, installation photos, and invoice showing total cost minus grant amount.
- 23The installer must deduct the grant amount from the invoice before claiming.
- 24If approved, OZEV will pay the grant directly to the installer.
- 25An organisation is under common control if it is part of a group with shared ownership or control.
- 26Examples of common control include having a parent company, holding company, or controlling person.
- 27Groups under common control are eligible for up to 200 sockets per year collectively.
- 28Common control is defined under the Subsidy Control Act 2022 Section 8.
- 29OZEV may audit applications or installations before or after approval.
- 30Applicants must comply with audit requests or risk cancellation of the grant.
