About this grant

You can apply for an overseas travel grant in any area within the remit of EPSRC. You must be based at an eligible UK research organisation. Overseas travel grants (OTGs) provide funding for visits overseas to learn new techniques, or form and develop collaborations. We expect you not to exceed a single visit of more than six months or multiple visits totalling up to 12 months.

Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

  • Must be based at an eligible UK research organisation
  • EPSRC standard eligibility rules apply
  • Single visit not exceeding six months OR multiple visits totalling up to 12 months
  • No uninvited resubmissions accepted

What the funding covers

  • 80% of full economic costs (FEC)
  • Travel costs
  • Subsistence
  • Salary of project lead
  • Indirect costs
  • Visas
  • Does NOT cover: estates costs, equipment (including laptops)

How to apply

  1. 1Apply through UKRI Funding Service. No fixed closing dates - applications batched internally. Processing throughout 2024, 2025 and 2026. Application includes: Summary (550 words), Core team (normally only single project lead, other staff costs must be fully justified), Thematic area alignment, Purpose document (2 pages max), References (1,000 words), Project partners contributions and letters of support, Resources and cost justification (1,000 words), Ethics and RRI (500 words). Aim for faster turnaround - may approve funding without panel if sufficient reviewer support. Contact tfschangeepsrc@epsrc.ukri.org for questions.
