About this grant
Apply to lead the formation of a strategic research lab dedicated to advancing the UK's position in fundamental artificial intelligence (AI) development. Up to £40 million delivered in stages is available over six years to support research and training.

How to apply
- 1Confirm you are the project lead
- 2Sign in or create a Funding Service account
- 3Select your organisation verify email and set password
- 4If organisation is not listed email support@funding-service.ukri.org
- 5Allow at least 10 working days for organisation to be added
- 6Create an organisation Administration Account if requesting organisation addition
- 7Administration account needed for acceptance and management of potential grant
- 8Answer questions directly in text boxes
- 9Save answers and return later if needed
- 10Work offline and copy paste answers back into system if preferred
- 11Upload documents only when requested following Funding Service instructions
- 12Use How to apply section for questions and assessment criteria guidance
- 13Review application in read-only view before submission
- 14Send completed application to research office for checking
- 15Research office may return application for edits
- 16Research office submits checked application to UKRI
