About this grant

Personal awards to support ambitious research and innovation across UKRI's remit for researchers or innovators looking to establish or transition to independence. Supports fellows to develop as impactful and influential research or innovation leaders.

Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

• Must be a researcher or innovator looking to establish or transition to independence
• Based at UK research organisation or business eligible for UKRI funding

What the funding covers

• Personal fellowship awards for career development
• Research and innovation across entire UKRI remit
• Support to develop as research/innovation leader
• Total fund: £110M

How to apply

1. 1Select Start Application on Funding finder page
2. 2Confirm you are the fellow
3. 3Sign in or create Funding Service account
4. 4Select organisation, verify email and set password
5. 5If organisation is not listed email support@funding-service.ukri.org
6. 6Allow at least 10 working days for organisation to be added
7. 7Create organisation Administration Account if requesting organisation addition
8. 8Administration account needed for grant acceptance and management
9. 9Answer questions directly in text boxes
10. 10Save answers and return later if needed
11. 11Work offline and copy paste responses back into system if preferred
12. 12Upload documents only when requested following Funding Service instructions
13. 13Refer to How to apply section for questions and assessment criteria
14. 14Check application in read-only view before submission
15. 15Send completed application to research office for checking
16. 16Research office may return application for edits
17. 17Research office submits checked application to UKRI
