Funding for ship borne and virtual site survey investigations (SSI) to support development of applications for scientific ocean drilling expedition.

Eligibility requirements
All of the following criteria must be met:
- Based at UK research organisation eligible for NERC funding
- In role meeting individual eligibility requirements
- Must have submitted proposal or pre-proposal for drilling expedition to IODP3 via Gateway system
- Maximum 2 applications per person (only 1 as project lead)
What the funding covers
- FEC up to £500K for ship borne investigations, £187.5K for virtual investigations
- NERC funds 80% FEC
- Duration up to 24 months
- Ship borne geophysical site surveys requiring ship time
- Virtual site survey support for processing existing geophysical data
- Facilities costs and cruise costs
- Does NOT fund: PhD studentships, equipment £25K+
