Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

Based at UK research organisation eligible for NERC funding
In role meeting individual eligibility requirements
Must have submitted proposal or pre-proposal for drilling expedition to IODP3 via Gateway system
Maximum 2 applications per person (only 1 as project lead)

What the funding covers

FEC up to £500,000 for ship borne investigations, £187,500 for virtual investigations
NERC funds 80% FEC
Duration up to 24 months
Ship borne geophysical site surveys requiring ship time
Virtual site survey support for processing existing geophysical data
Facilities costs and cruise costs
Does NOT fund: PhD studentships, equipment £25,000+
