Eligibility requirements

All of the following criteria must be met:

  • Meet UKRI eligibility criteria
  • Actively engaged in postdoctoral research
  • Doctorate or equivalent research experience
  • US applicants must be eligible for NSF funding
  • Must submit Expression of Interest (EOI) before full application

What the funding covers

  • AHRC-led: UK costs £50,000-£1 million
  • BBSRC-led: UK costs up to £1 million (no minimum)
  • ESRC-led: UK costs £350,000-£1 million
  • NSF-led with AHRC UK funder: max £350,000
  • NSF-led with ESRC/BBSRC UK funder: max £1 million

How to apply

  1. 1Submit EOI using template to sbeleadagency@ukri.org (if AHRC lead) or sbe-ukri@nsf.gov (if NSF-SBE lead). After approval, apply via UKRI Funding Service or NSF systems
