About this grant
Support towards costs of installing electric vehicle chargepoints at eligible places of work.
Key facts
Eligibility requirements
All of the following criteria must be met:
- Own property or have landlord consent
- Parking for staff/fleet, not customer use (except public authorities, charities, small accommodation businesses)
- Up to 40 sockets across all sites per applicant
- Cannot exceed £315,000 in minimal financial assistance over 3 financial years (except public authorities)
- Must use authorized installer
What the funding covers
- Up to 75% of total costs (including VAT)
- Capped at £350 per socket (£500 from 1 April 2026)
- Maximum 40 sockets across all sites
How to apply
- 1Use the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) application form to apply for the grant.
- 2If your application is successful, you will receive a voucher code by email within 5 working days.
- 3You can provide the voucher code to any authorised commercial chargepoint installer.
- 4The email will include your contact details.
- 5The email will include the installation site or sites.
- 6The email will include the voucher expiry date.
- 7The email will include the number of sockets and sites covered by the voucher.
- 8The voucher is valid for 180 days from the issue date.
- 9Chargepoints must be installed within 180 days of the voucher issue date.
- 10The installer will claim the grant after installation is complete.
- 11The grant must be claimed within 180 days of the voucher issue date.
- 12If your application is unsuccessful, you can appeal by emailing workplacechargingscheme@dvla.gov.uk.
- 13Appeals are reviewed by a manager.
- 14The decision after appeal is final.
